Ever since installing the Leopard update 10.5.2, the speech recognition has been on, reading aloud every title bar when opening a web page, the title of documents, etc. It is getting extremely annoying but even though it shows in the Speech window (under System Preferences) that it is turned off, it is obviously not. Any ideas? Thanks.

I need to assist someone who is injured and needs to do speech recognition computing. I understand Vista comes with speech recognition nowadays but the person is using Windows XP. The person will mainly use the speech recognition for Word processing and perhaps for commands to open files/folder, IE, etc. How does this work, do we buy a separate software and set it up? Any suggestions for a good noise free microphone? Please share your knowledge and experience. Thank you.

I have a DYNEX microphone and want to use speech recognition, but I don’t have a tab for it in Speech in the Control Panel. I also want to use it for speech-to-text, but apparently Microsoft Office 2007 doesn’t do that, even though 2003 does. Help?
